Between a Rock and a Soft Place

January 10, 2007

There is a frightful lack of systemization to the way I read, especially when it comes, fumbling, to poetry. Mostly it goes like this: Whenver a patron returns a book that even remotely catches my eye, I immediately re-route it into my backpack. And that’s how Richard Siken’s 2005 volume Crush came into my hands two weeks ago.

I am thinking of stitching the book into a breast pocket in which to keep another copy of the book.

I doubt you have read anything this incredible in a long time. Or ever.
